 The single crochet stitch is the shortest of the basic stitches. It makes a firm flat fabric.
Insert hook in 2nd chain from hook. Catch Yarn, A, and draw a loop through the loop.(2 loops on hook), Yarn over hook and pull through both loops on hook to complete stitch. Work a single in each chain across row. After last stitch chain 1, turn and begin 2nd row.




  1. Insert the hook through the top two loops of the second chain [ch] from the hook. Wrap the yarn over the hook [yo] and draw up a loop (now there are two loops on the hook).

  2. Wrap the yarn over the hook [yo] and draw through both loops on hook [sc-single crochet]. You have now made one single crochet.

  3. Continue in the same manner, inserting the hook into each chain across. Work one chain [ch] (for the turning chain) for single crochet.
