These days, the fashion world is in love with handcrafted accents;
crochet, embroidery, smocking and beadwork, to name just a few. Learn
how to embellish a tunic with beads and embroidery, then put the
technique to work on all your pullovers and accessories.
Shirley Paden’s citron camisole is light and sweet stitched in
“Kanpur” silk from Anny Blatt/USA. Worked circularly to the first
ribbed panel, it splits and eases into a lacy bodice threaded with
twisted cord ties.

Seed-stitched in S. Charles Collezione/Tahki Stacy Charles, Inc.’s
“Muse” and edged in “Cosmos”, Elena Malo’s shapely short jacket is a
treat to knit and wear. It ties with the same single crochet trim that
finishes the pockets and edges.
Cascading ruffles give Vladimir Teriokhin’s romantic eyelet top a
flirty feel. The yarn is South West Trading Company’s
“Phoenix”.
Alison Dupernex’s flower strewn capelet looks ever-so-sexy slipped over
bare shoulders or a tiny tee. It’s knit in one piece in Lana
Gotto/Needful Yarns’ “Feeling”; borders and ties are worked separately
and sewn on.
Deborah Newton whipped up this shimmery confection of lacy diamonds and
eyelets in Berroco Inc.’s “Glace”. The bodice can tie in the front or
in the back as shown; rolled edges give it a soft finish.
