Knit is a medium that crosses all generations and is often learnt from
the lap of mothers and grandmothers who teach their children and
grandchildren the basic technique and introduce them to knitting.

These designers may hail from Seventh Avenue, but their ideas seem to
come fresh from a country bower. Stitch up their luscious creations to
brighter your wardrobe for this and many other sultry summers to come.
Twinkle gives the traditionally delicate detail of crocheted picot a
fresh spin by stitching it in a chunkier than usual gauge using two
strands of Classic Elite Yarns' "Provence". The short bolero shape is
straight from the runway and knits up in a flash.
Cynthia Rowley's elongated tank looks just lovely stitched in Filatura
Di Crosa/Tahki Stacy Charles, Inc.'s "Mirto". A basket-weave pattern
that gradually decreases in size sculpts handfuls of texture; single
crochet finishes the deep scooped neck and armholes.
Pierrot turns a
lacy leaf pattern into a sexy silhouette by topping a simple tube with
a fold-over off-the-shoulder collar. The yarn, in a kicky shade of
cherry red, is cool cotton “Grace” from Patons.
